On the work

There's no horizon in Dystopian Landscape, nothing to stand on, only a single word for what the place has become. Written into the streaked gray, the word dystopian barely stands out from the ground, so it takes a moment to surface. It is a gray that closes in from every side, a world gone wrong named without raising its voice. Against all that gray, the one patch of yellow is something held in view though out of reach, the way open sky stays in mind from a narrow place. It's a small patch, but the whole painting leans toward it.
