Depths of Distortion

Depths of Distortion asks how far down you're willing to look. At first it gives little back; then the frames begin to open, one inside another, each a smaller room than the last. Color laid down layer after layer keeps coming up through the scraped white, as if nothing here was ever fully covered. The deeper the eye goes, the tighter the rooms get, and still the color finds a way through. Somewhere on the way down it stops being about the painting and starts being about you: what you've covered over, and what still shows through.
